We Are Strong
I wrote this song the day after Trump was shot in the head. Without getting political, it reminded me of how, the week after 9/11, I was amazed to see American flags on nearly every single car. I felt encouraged, believing that the entire country was coming together. But now, I doubt we’d see the same unity in the midst of a National tragedy. Our differences are no longer respected and embraced; instead, they have become acrimonious at best. This song encourages us to be that united, caring nation once again…not a divided, “pick a side” society.
Every
Everything we touch, see, and feel is only possible because of God’s will and power. I know some ‘science’ folks might challenge me on this, but I’d love to have that discussion when we’re standing before God. It’s only fair to involve all parties, right?
Signal
The inspiration for this song came from a recent broadcast from Voyager 1, the satellite launched by NASA in 1977. Now 15.2 billion miles away, Voyager 1 travels at 38,026 mph through uncharted space. It entered interstellar space in 2012 and continues to send updates. On November 14th, 2023, it started transmitting garbled messages (Communication with Voyager takes about 22.5 hours)
Most of the original team that maintained the satellite have since retired or passed away. However, a new team managed to fix the issue, and by April 2024, all four instruments on Voyager 1 were reporting again. It’s expected to run out of power in 2025, after which it will continue its last programmed course until something stops it.

For Now
Philippians 4:
(4) Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (5) Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. (6) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (7) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
My Request
In many prayer forums, people often present “unspoken requests.” Though the details of their situation remain private, the need for prayer is clear. Everyone is at a different stage in their spiritual growth. What may seem trivial to one person could be life-altering to another. We should remember that when someone asks for prayer, their request is as heartfelt as anything we might be going through.
