This song expresses the idea that when we’re having “one of those days”—when it feels like everything we do is wrong, cursed, or making things worse—God is right there with us. We’re all fallible, and I’ve had SO MANY moments where I keep learning the same lesson over and over again.
1 Thessalonians 5:
16 Rejoice always, 17 Pray continually, 18 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
This was a tough concept for me. Rejoicing always? Really? When I lost my job? When I had a wreck? When I was so sick? It’s true—none of these situations would make a “normal person” think about rejoicing. But consider it this way: if God allows these things to happen, maybe He trusts us to handle them well. He might even be using us as inspiration for others who are silently watching how we respond.
It’s not just about handling bad things, though. God is also there when we’re simply tired or when we just need a friend to talk to. The point is: He is ALWAYS there for us.
